We warmly welcome the Rev. Kalaba Kapundu to First United Methodist Church of Springfield NE

Greetings First United Methodist Church of Springfield,

My name is Kalaba Kapundu, and as your new pastor, I would like to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt gratitude for the gifts and warm welcome my family and I have received since moving to Springfield.

I am African—not because I was born in Africa, but because Africa is born in me. I am originally from Zambia, a small landlocked country in southern Africa. Over the years, I have had the privilege of living in various African countries, which has enriched my perspective and experiences.

I am married to Pastor Anny Kapundu, who serves at Malcolm and Havelock UMCs. Together, we are blessed with three wonderful boys: Ian (15), Dan (12), and Tim (10). Our sons enjoy sports, music, and playing video games with friends.

We feel truly blessed to be part of this warm and welcoming community. As your pastor, I am not here to take over your church but to join you in fellowship and journey alongside you as the Lord leads us.

I invite you to stop by and visit with me. I enjoy engaging in meaningful conversations over a cup of coffee, tea, or even water. My calling to ministry is rooted in being a shepherd—to care, share, visit, pray, and worship together with others.

After the county fair, we will resume Bible Study on Wednesdays at 7:00 PM, focusing on the two books of Kings. Additionally, I will begin hosting morning prayers from Tuesday to Thursday, 6:00–6:30 AM. You are welcome to join me during these times for prayer and reflection.

My office door is always open, and I encourage you to stop by to say hello or invite me for coffee. Once again, thank you for your warm welcome, and may God bless you abundantly.
