What is the right amount for me to give? Giving is very personal, but this quote might be of sound advice: “Give until it feels good”.
Tithing-The thought of tithing a percent of their income makes some people anxious, as making the choice to put your gifts to serve to God first is a serious commitment to your priorities, in comparison to giving a portion of what is left over. For some, committing to a tithe is a scary proposition, while others might build confidence moving toward tithing in steps of progress. Tithing quickly becomes invigorating and natural for those who do make the commitment.
In the Bible, the law given through Moses required that the Israelites give a tithe or one-tenth of the produce of their land and livestock to support the Levitical priesthood (Leviticus 27:30-33). Today, many Christians donate a tithe, or 10 percent of their income, to support their church ministry and mission.
God Loves a Cheerful giver- You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.” 2 Corinthians 9:7 (New Living Translation)
